4 spine, orthopedic medtech notes: Medtronic, Orthofix and more

Here are four key developments from spine and orthopedic medtech companies since Aug. 14.

1. Restor3d, an orthopedic devicemaker, hired two new senior leaders. Larry Hazbun is senior vice president of robotics, and Kirstin Widding was named senior vice president of hip and knee.

2. Orthopedic and spine company Orthofix named Patrick Fisher as president of its global orthopedics business.

3. At least four law firms have launched investigations into Globus Medical after the company received a warning letter from the FDA. The Aug. 13 letter said that during an inspection into Globus Medical’s Excelsius GPS spine robot, the devices did not conform to current manufacturing practice requirements.

4. Medtronic posted $7.9 billion in sales for the first quarter of fiscal year 2025.
