The physicians providing care at the 2024 World Series
The New York Yankees will face off against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2024 World Series, with the first game scheduled to begin in New York City Oct. 25.
Here are the key physicians heading to the World Series alongside the two teams:
Neal ElAttrache, MD, is the head team physician for the Dodgers. Dr. ElAttrache is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles. He also serves as head team physician for the Los Angeles Rams football team. In mid-October, Dr. ElAttrache performed shoulder surgery on Gavin Stone, a pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, who is not expected to play in the 2024 series.
Christopher Ahmad, MD, is the head team physician for the Yankees. He began working with the team in 2008, regularly dealing with players’ sprains, fractures, soreness, pulls, bruises, ligament tears and other injuries. Dr. Ahmad works in private practice in New York City and is a professor of clinical orthopedic surgery at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and an attending orthopedic surgeon at the New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center.
